Emailchemy experience

Postby mbierly » Tue Sep 11, 2012 12:25 pm

Just wanted to throw this out and get a feel. For those who have tried using Emailchemy:

A) What method did you use to get your email out of the Eudora files: IMAP server, POP3 server, MBOX format, other?
B) How well did MF receive/import the emails handled by Emailchemy?
C) If there were issues, do you feel they were due to MF or Emailchemy?

Thanks in advance for your responses!
Regards,
Mike

A. I only tried MBOX
B. It did not receive the files created by Emailchemy
C. Don't know why MF wouldn't import MBOX from Emailchemy

I used emailchemy 11.2.3 and told it to create MBOX format. It took about 30 secs to convert about 12,000 mails.
B) How well did MF receive/import the emails handled by Emailchemy?

The folder that I asked emailchemy to create, I renamed as Mail Folder. I then created another folder called Eudora Folder and put the Mail Folder in it (this process was needed in order for MF to find the mail folder). I then told MF to import that Eudora Folder, which it did. Unfortunately in all the mailboxes that MF created to correspond to the original Eudora ones, there was exactly one email. This email consisted of the concatenated contents of each mailbox.

The problem seems to be that MF does not recognise the MBOX mail separator. I expect it's looking for the non-standard Eudora one which is:

From ???@???

rather than something like:
